Ordinary women coming together... to make extraordinary music

Sounds of the Seacoast, under the new Direction of Jacob Kanupp, sings barbershop-style music (unaccompanied, four-part a cappella harmony), and enjoys a variety of songs including jazz standards, pop tunes, gospel and holiday classics. We put on a few performances every year, including our annual Holly Jolly Cabaret in December.
Celebrating almost five decades of acapella singing in the Portsmouth area, Sounds of the Seacoast was founded in 1979 (originally as the Harbor Belles) by Jim Dodge, a long-time barbershopper from Dover, NH, and father of our previous Director, Wendy McCoole.
Sounds of the Seacoast also enjoys traveling to and competing as a chapter of Harmony, Inc. twice a year: our Area competition in the spring and the International competition in the fall.
But we're not just about competition (although that helps us to be better singers and performers). We also LOVE singing in the community! Sounds of the Seacoast rehearses every Monday night at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington, NH and we welcome new members throughout the year.
